Ameesha Patel Heads to Cannes

After Aishwarya, Sonam and of course, Vidya Balan, another T’town beauty will have a Cannes outing. Ameesha Patel is heading to the prestigious film festival for the premiere of her film ‘Shortcut Romeo’, which also stars Neil Nitin Mukesh and Puja Gupta.

The film, directed by Susi Ganesh, will be screened at the French Riviera on May 22. Now, with Ash, Sonam and Vidya turning up in their designer threads, can Ameesha be left behind? The actress says she will be putting her best look and best foot forward for the festival and has roped in Manish Malhotra to work on her look.

In an interview to a leading daily, Ameesha says, “It is a huge honour for me to be representing our cinema at Cannes. I am not going there as a brand ambassador. I am going there for my movie and that is a big deal. Manish and I have decided that since I am representing the country on a global platform, it would be perfect to be dressed in something that’s truly desi. Nothing looks better on an Indian woman than a sari or lehenga. I have to walk the red carpet in the morning and the premiere is at night, so there will be two outfits.”

Manish said that he has given Ameesha something very Indian yet ‘red carpetish’. Black and white, being classic colours, have been incorporated in her outfit that is high on Kashmiri and Chikankari work.

Let the battle of the Cannes beauties begin!

Ash Says No to Farah Khan’s ‘Happy New Year’

There is a lot of confusion regarding the star cast of Farah Khan’s upcoming ‘Happy New Year’ starring Shah Rukh Khan in the lead. Now, word has it that Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan has apparently turned down the female lead offered to her by Farah!

If you’re thinking that the ‘Chalte Chalte’ conflict years ago (when Shah Rukh Khan threw her out of the film after Salman Khan created a ruckus on the sets) is still the reason Ash doesn’t want to work with Shah Rukh, you are wrong. Though her fans and the industry believe nothing could be better for the actress than to make a comeback with a Khan, Ash thinks differently.

Her refusal, say sources, has nothing to do with SRK. It is believed that Aishwarya only wants to star opposite her husband, Abhishek Bachchan, who is also a part of Happy New Year. A source close to the actress discloses, “Yes, the film was offered to Aishwarya and she was in talks with Farah but the film also stars her hubby and he isn’t paired opposite her and that was Ash’s reservation.”

Apparently, Aishwarya believes that if she and Abhishek come together in a film, they should be paired opposite each other; otherwise the audience might not accept the film! Looks like Ash doesn’t want a repeat of ‘Dhoom: 2’ where she shared a lip-lock scene with Hrithik while Abhi was in the same film!

Salman Khan’s Special Bash for Tabu

Salman Khan doesn’t need a reason to party especially when he is in a good mood and in the company of friends. After being low with his nerve problem (trigeminal neuralgia), Salman thought of cheering up and partying with the ‘Mental’ team. Recently, Sallu threw a special surprise party for his ‘Mental’ co-star Tabu in Goa. After wrapping up the Lavasa schedule, Salman, Tabu and team were busy shooting on the beaches of Goa.

So making the most of the location and the breezy hot summer Salman organised the party at the hotel where the unit was put up. The reason: the actor was happy that Tabu has agreed to be a part of his brother Sohail’s film. One hears that Salman even asked his family members to join the bash. The Khan sisters – Alvira, Arpita, brother Arbaaz Khan also partied with them.

Though Salman and Tabu have shared screen space in ‘Hum Saath Saath Hai’ and ‘Jeet’, the two never got a chance to work together thereafter. And with Tabu on the sets, Salman is more than happy to revive his old friendship. A source close to him says, “Salman is ecstatic about working with Tabu and they have always shared excellent camaraderie. The party was meant to celebrate their friendship.”

Juhi Chawla’s Secret Admirer

Childhood crushes always remain special, and it isn’t any different for Vivek Oberoi. The actor expressed his admiration for Juhi Chawla on the sets of ‘India’s Best Dramebaaz’. Upon meeting Juhi up, close and personal on the sets of Zee TV’s ‘India’s Best Dramebaaz’, Vivek couldn’t contain his emotions. ‘I had a huge crush on you after watching ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’,’ Vivek told Juhi after watching her shake a leg to ‘Gazab ka hai din’ from the same film, which completed 25 years since its release April 29. Juhi, however, laughed out loud saying: ‘You mean you had a crush on me when you were 10 years old?’ Vivek is now 36. ‘I very clearly remember watching the film as a kid, and had a huge crush on Juhi’s character. She became the epitome of the woman I aspired to date. Even back then, her vivacious ways and cute smile were so endearing that I think all the boys in India fell in love with her,’ said Vivek, who is a judge on the reality show.

The actress was on the show to promote her upcoming film ‘Hum Hai Rahi Car Ke’ along with her co-stars, Dev Goel and Adah Sharma. The trio were amazed by the wholesome talent on the show and were full of praises for all the kids. The special episode will be aired Sunday.
